2. How Inventory Guard works
Inventory Guard is an Inventory Incident Response platform for Shopify.
We monitor inventory changes using Shopify's official webhooks and detect suspicious patterns such as sudden stock wipes, ERP sync storms, and unusual inventory movements. When an incident is detected, Inventory Guard analyzes the available evidence, determines the most likely cause, and alerts your team.
When recovery is appropriate, Safe Revert helps restore inventory safely while protecting against overselling and ghost inventory.
3. Safe Revert
The Safe Revert feature allows you to restore inventory levels with a single click after an unintended drop. Unlike blind restores that might overwrite legitimate sales, our system calculates a safe "relative delta". This means if a customer buys an item while you are investigating an incident, our revert will mathematically accommodate that sale without causing ghost inventory or overselling.
4. Data deletion on uninstall
We respect your data privacy. When you uninstall Inventory Guard, merchant operational data—including inventory event logs, incidents, analytics, and notification settings—is automatically scheduled for deletion through our background purge system.
We comply with Shopify's mandatory GDPR webhooks, including shop/redact, customers/redact, and customers/data_request, to ensure data is handled according to Shopify's requirements and applicable privacy laws.
5. Billing questions
All billing is securely managed directly through Shopify. Inventory Guard offers a Free tier with core anomaly detection, and a Pro tier that unlocks Safe Revert, advanced analytics, and long-term data retention. If you choose to upgrade, Shopify will charge your regular store invoice. You can downgrade or cancel at any time within your Shopify admin panel without needing to contact us.
6. Shopify permissions
Inventory Guard follows the principle of least privilege.
We request only the permissions required to provide our services:
• Inventory and product access to monitor inventory changes.
• Inventory write access only for merchants who use Safe Revert.
• read_orders access (Pro only) to correlate inventory movements with legitimate order fulfillment.
Inventory Guard does not store customer names, email addresses, shipping addresses, or payment information.
