Privacy Policy
Last Updated: June 2026
1. Introduction
Inventory Guard is operated by OsmouTech. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share your personal information when you use our Shopify application, Inventory Guard (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring your data is handled securely.
2. What We Store โ and What We Never Touch
We are explicit about this because trust matters more than legal boilerplate.
We do not store:
- Customer names
- Customer email addresses
- Customer shipping or billing addresses
- Payment information of any kind
We store:
- Inventory change events (quantity, product ID, variant ID, location ID, timestamps)
- Basic product identifiers (Product Title, Variant Title, SKU) to make alerts human-readable
- Operational incidents โ the classified anomalies we detect on your behalf
- Notification preferences (email address, Slack webhook URL you provide)
- Analytics metrics โ aggregated counts of incidents, reverts, and protected value (including fetching public variant prices to calculate this)
Order data (Pro plan only):
With your explicit approval, we access Order IDs and fulfillment statuses via Shopify's read_orders scope. This lets us classify inventory drops as Order Fulfillment vs. unexplained changes. We may store limited order identifiers necessary to correlate inventory incidents with order activity. We do not store customer names, emails, addresses, or payment information.
Integration credentials: If you connect Slack, we store the webhook URL you provide. We never store Shopify access tokens beyond what Shopify's standard session storage requires.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the App's core services, including inventory monitoring, incident detection, investigation, and safe recovery workflows.
- Send you critical alerts via email or integrated services (like Slack) regarding your inventory.
- Provide customer support and respond to your inquiries.
- Analyze usage trends to improve the App's functionality and performance.
4. Information Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell your personal information. We only share your information with:
- Infrastructure Providers: Trusted third-party vendors (e.g., hosting providers, database providers) who assist us in operating the App, under strict confidentiality agreements.
- Product Analytics: We use PostHog to track high-level app usage (e.g., "App Installed", "Incident Detected", "Safe Revert Success") to help us improve the product. We do not send customer PII to PostHog.
- Integrations: Third-party platforms (like Slack) only when you explicitly connect them to the App to receive alerts.
- Legal Compliance: If required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
5. Data Security and Retention
Security: We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (TLS), access controls, and secure cloud infrastructure to protect merchant data.
Retention: Data retention periods vary by subscription plan and are disclosed within the App. We do not retain data longer than necessary to provide the service.
Data deletion on uninstall: All merchant operational data โ inventory events, incidents, notification settings, and analytics โ is deleted automatically when you uninstall the App. Deletion begins within minutes via our GDPR-compliant background purge queue.
GDPR legal erasure: Legal GDPR deletion requests are honored via Shopify's mandatory GDPR webhooks (shop/redact, customers/redact, customers/data_request). When Shopify sends the shop/redact webhook (typically 48 hours after uninstall), Operational merchant data is deleted in accordance with Shopify's GDPR requirements and our retention policies.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete information associated with your store.
You may revoke Inventory Guard's access at any time by uninstalling the App from Shopify.
Inventory Guard does not sell personal data, store customer personal information, or perform customer profiling.
